Land. Sea. Air. The New Campaign that Puts Sustainability at the Forefront for Mercedes Benz
April 03 2023,
Mercedes-Benz has launched a new campaign that puts sustainability at the forefront of the brand. The campaign, entitled Land. Sea. Air., centers around the historic symbol of the Mercedes star, which has been brought into modern times to represent the responsible handling of the elements of earth, water, and air. The campaign features a visually powerful main film with clear messages on resource conservation, recycling, and CO2 neutrality. The campaign will be played out in the core markets of Mercedes‑Benz worldwide, spanning various media platforms such as TV, cinema, digital, social media, and print.
The Land. Sea. Air. campaign is more than just a marketing gimmick; it falls in line with Mercedes-Benz's goal of becoming more sustainable. The aim of this new campaign is to reduce the automakers' carbon footprint, conserve resources, and set a benchmark in the industry for sustainability. Mercedes-Benz has introduced several new sustainability measures to support its new campaign. Some of these measures include using more renewable energies in their factories, promoting eco-friendly solutions through various channels and advocating for more responsible use of resources.
“Today, as then, the Mercedes star stands for our unique history, the pioneering spirit that characterizes the brand and the constant innovative strength that makes the start of a new era of mobility possible. This is illustrated by the slogan ‘It’s a sign of new times’. The campaign once again visualizes that, for us, luxury and sustainability belong together, surprising with emotional charisma," said Bettina Fetzer, Vice President Communications and Marketing, Mercedes‑Benz AG
Mercedes-Benz is leading the way in sustainable mobility with its new marketing campaign, Land. Sea. Air., which aims to make all of its vehicles and batteries CO2-neutral by 2039. The brand plans to launch a fleet of electric cars, vans and high-power charging networks throughout North America, Europe, China and other core markets by 2027. Additionally, they are already been utilizing green electricity from renewable sources in their own production plants since 2022.
Mercedes-Benz is committed to the sustainability of its battery life cycle and has created initiatives such as remanufactured batteries, second-life storage systems and a global battery recycling strategy. They have also established a battery recycling factory in Germany to increase their recycling rate to more than 96%.
Furthermore, the manufacturer is committed to preserving resources and avoiding waste by using recycled materials in their vehicles, such as UBQTM, chemical recycling, yarn made from fishing nets and carpets, fabrics from PET bottles, cactus and mushroom mycelia, bamboo fibres and vegan silk-like fabric. They are also reducing CO2 emissions in the steel supply chain through the use of scrap in electric arc furnaces and hydrogen instead of coking coal.
In short, the Land. Sea. Air., campaign from Mercedes-Benz is a step in the right direction for sustainable mobility and sets an example for how other companies can follow suit and make a real difference when it comes to preserving our planet’s resources. With innovative initiatives, responsible handling of resources, and ethical practices, Mercedes-Benz is paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future.
