A look at the Prices and Specifications of the New 2024 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter

The van division of Mercedes-Benz recently launched its first-ever all-electric Sprinter model: the 2024 eSprinter. Here is a look at the detailed pricing and specifications of this new electric van for the Canadian market.

One size and two power options

At launch, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter will be offered in only one physical size, featuring a 170-inch wheelbase and an increased roof height. This model will be powered by a 113-kWh battery that will give it over 400 kilometers of range according to the WLTP test cycle. Buyers will have a choice of two power outputs for their 2024 eSprinter, with the standard version delivering 136 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque for up to 30 seconds at a time. For more heavy-duty operations that require more power, the same rear-mounted motor can pump out 204 horsepower and the same level of torque in the upgraded version. An advantage of electric powertrains in a fleet vehicle is the reduction in maintenance needs, which also extends to the braking system. Indeed, since the eSprinter offers five levels of regeneration that can slow the vehicle down by recharging the battery, its actual friction brakes have a much longer life than those on a van powered by a gasoline or diesel engine.

Convenient charging solutions

Mercedes-Benz has made it a priority to make charging the 2024 eSprinter as easy and convenient as possible for businesses or independent drivers alike. This starts by reducing the battery’s actual charging time by providing a 9.6 kW onboard charger as standard which can bring an empty battery to full charge in about 12.5 hours using a simple 240-volt power outlet. This means that the eSprinter can always be charged fully overnight in order to provide the maximum range available during each working day. If a top-up is needed while out and about, the eSprinter can use a DC fast-charging station with a rate of up to 50 kW as standard or 115 kW as an option. With the faster charging option, this means the battery can go from 10% to 80% charge in about 42 minutes. With the Mercedes me Charge network, using compatible public charging stations is made easier by the integration of the payment infrastructure, which means that drivers can simply plug the vehicle in, without having to use a phone app to begin the charging and to pay for it.

Many desirable features

Offered at $97,990 for the standard version and $99,500 for the higher-powered version, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter offers many comfort and convenience features that make life on the road easier, such as a standard heated driver seat, a heated steering wheel, a digital rear-view mirror which gives a clear view of the rear of the van, as well as the MBUX infotainment system. As in Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, this advanced infotainment system uses Artificial Intelligence to learn how to better respond to the driver’s voice commands, which can be used to control most of the system’s functions.
