Mercedes-Benz Unveils New 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC

Mercedes-Benz Canada recently announced a significant addition to its entry-level electric EQB lineup, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 4MATIC SUV. Scheduled to arrive at Mercedes-Benz Laval by the second quarter of 2024, this model is engineered to impress with its sophisticated design, cutting-edge technology, and robust performance capabilities.

Innovative Features and Luxurious Design

Exterior Sophistication: The EQB 300 4MATIC SUV sports a contemporary design with a black panel surface adorned with a star pattern and a horizontal fiber-optic strip that connects to the full-LED headlamps. This not only enhances visibility but also solidifies its modern aesthetic.

Interior Luxury: The interior of the EQB 300 offers optional third-row seating, making it a versatile choice for families or those requiring additional space. It can comfortably accommodate passengers up to 1.65 metres in height in the additional seats, with safety features including retractable head restraints and comprehensive windowbag coverage.

Advanced Technology and User Experience

Mercedes-Benz continues to push the boundaries of automotive technology with the latest iteration of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). The EQB 300 4MATIC comes equipped with:

  • A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
  • A matching 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display.
  • Customizable display styles and modes for enhanced personalization.
  • Improved presentation of charging features within MBUX.

The optional Burmester® Surround Sound System features Dolby Atmos®, offering an immersive audio experience that complements the vehicle's high-tech environment.

Charging and Sustainability Initiatives

Mercedes-Benz is not only focused on luxury and performance but also on sustainability and convenience. The EQB 300 4MATIC SUV is part of Mercedes-Benz's broader strategy to enhance electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure:

  • Mercedes me Charge: This service integrates major charging networks like ChargePoint, BC Hydro, Electric Circuit, and FLO, providing access to a vast number of public charging points across North America.
  • Charging Infrastructure Expansion: The commitment includes the development of high-power charging hubs, with a plan to install 2,500 chargers across at least 400 locations in North America by the end of the decade.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2024 EQB 300 4MATIC SUV is engineered with cutting-edge electric motor technology, featuring a dual-motor setup that includes a front-mounted asynchronous motor (ASM) and a rear permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM). This combination not only enhances efficiency but also improves the vehicle's all-wheel-drive capabilities, ensuring optimal traction and handling under various driving conditions. The EQB 300's robust powertrain is capable of delivering a total of 225 horsepower and a substantial 288 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to achieve a top speed of 160 km/h.

Battery and Range:

  • Battery Capacity: Equipped with a 70.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, the EQB 300 4MATIC SUV is built to offer a substantial electric range. The estimated range on a full charge extends up to 340 km, making it suitable for both city commutes and longer journeys without frequent recharging stops.

  • Efficiency and Charging: The SUV supports AC charging up to 9.6 kW, allowing for a comprehensive charge from 0 to 80% in approximately 5 hours and 55 minutes using a 240v, 32A setup. For those requiring quicker charging times, the EQB 300 also accommodates DC fast charging at a rate of 100 kW, drastically reducing the charging time to about 32 minutes for an 80% charge using a 480v, 300A source.
