The 2024 GLC Coupe: A Closer Look at the Redesigned Luxury SUV

The 2024 GLC Coupe has been on Canadian roads for several months now, bringing with it a host of new design elements, features, and performance enhancements. This redesigned luxury SUV combines elegant styling with sporty driving dynamics, offering a fresh take on Mercedes-Benz's best-selling vehicle series. Available in Canada since early 2024, the new GLC Coupe has been delivering a refined driving experience with its electrified powertrain and advanced technology.

Design and Exterior Features

The 2024 GLC Coupe makes a strong first impression with its striking proportions and dramatic surfaces. The vehicle's sporty silhouette is immediately recognizable as part of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family. A seamless transition from the headlights to the radiator grille accentuates the car's width, while the Mercedes-Benz pattern graces the radiator grille cover as a standard feature.

Precisely moulded edges highlight the GLC Coupe's muscular wheel arches, striking a balance between elegance and power. The AMG Line comes standard with 19-inch or 20-inch mixed-profile tires and wheel arch liners in the vehicle colour. Optional extras include easy-entry running boards and a Night package for those seeking additional customization.

The rear of the vehicle features two-part tail lights with black-coloured and dark red connecting elements, finished off with a simulated chrome underguard. These design elements contribute to the GLC Coupe's confident and athletic stance.

Interior and Technology

Step inside the 2024 GLC Coupe, and you'll find a modern, sporty interior equipped with the AMG line as standard. The dashboard is clearly structured, featuring a wing-like profile with flattened vent outlets. A generous trim area flows seamlessly into the curved centre console, creating a cohesive and luxurious feel.

The interior is dominated by two floating displays: a 12.3-inch high-resolution LCD screen for the driver and an 11.9-inch central display. These screens are slightly angled towards the driver for optimal visibility and ease of use.

The new GLC Coupe boasts the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. This advanced system offers improved user experience through enhanced hardware and software. The full-screen navigation provides clear route guidance, with an optional MBUX Augmented Reality feature for even more intuitive navigation.

Voice control has been improved with the "Hey Mercedes" intuitive voice assistant, which now responds more effectively to natural language and user preferences. Music lovers will appreciate the seamless integration of music streaming services, allowing for a personalized audio experience.

Performance and Efficiency

Under the hood, the 2024 GLC Coupe features an electrified powertrain. All models come equipped with a mild hybrid system, which includes a second-generation integrated starter-generator and a 48-volt on-board electrical system. This setup provides an extra boost of power and enables energy recuperation, enhancing overall efficiency.

The GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe boasts a 2.0L engine with a rated output of 255 hp at 5,800 rpm. The electric boost adds an additional 23 hp, resulting in impressive performance figures. The vehicle accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 246 km/h.

The GLC Coupe's performance extends beyond the pavement. With standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive and various off-road features, including an off-road driving mode and Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR), this SUV is capable of tackling diverse terrains with confidence.

Safety and Assistance Systems

Mercedes-Benz has equipped the 2024 GLC Coupe with a comprehensive suite of safety features and driver assistance systems. The latest generation of the Driver's Assistance package includes improved functions such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist.

New features like the stop sign and red traffic light warning functions of the Traffic Sign Assistant further enhance safety. The Parking package, which comes standard on the GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe, includes a 360° camera and the innovative "transparent hood" function, making manoeuvring in tight spaces easier than ever.

The GLC Coupe's body design incorporates high-rigidity materials and strategically placed deformation zones to provide excellent protection in the event of a collision. The optional PRE-SAFE Impulse Side function adds an extra layer of protection by creating a virtual crumple zone around the vehicle.

Since its release earlier this year, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe buyers have been experiencing firsthand the blend of comfort, sportiness, and cutting-edge technology that this redesigned model offers.
